Turning the Plausible Into the Compelling
Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid's Tale) once referred to this as a specific genre. Rather than simply writing science fiction, this is speculative fiction meaning "a work that employs the means already to hand" and takes place in the world we live. Not some other place, or for that matter, even in another time. Here and now and what is plausible.

The Last Paper Book
“No, my dear, I don’t think there will ever be a world without books. No matter how anyone tries, they’ll never burn them all. We know for sure, the ones that are printed, have permanence. Some day, sadly and eventually they will stop being printed. We will know that day is coming closer when the last magazines and newspapers are printed. Digitization is an inevitability. And the thing of is, the whole, I don’t know, the irony, I guess...Is that if electricity goes away, so does all the digital information. And, as we’ve already seen, the more you try to hide something digitally, the better the searching tools become. And, I would also say, that books will become the last place to truly hide information. Because as long as printed books remain, there will be a place to hide information. Right up until the day they print the last paper book. "

Thriller Romance
Doublin' is the first in a trilogy. Sophie and Gus are tricked into meeting at a publishing conference and immediately bond with sarcasm. They unwittingly uncover a scheme to leverage Generative AI and the unwitting publishing industry, soon becoming entangled romantically and equally over their heads in their work. Through the eyes of the characters and witty dialogue, readers learn their half-truths become unsustainable. When their research gets them too close to the truth, one of them is placed in danger and everything is exposed for better or for worse.
In 2021, China declared “The future of the world should rest in the hands of all peoples of the world. …and the fruits of development should be shared by all.” As an applied futurist and former government analyst for two agencies, I’ve created a plausible scenario how BRICS nations can turn ambitions into actions. Doublin’ is the first novel developed using the Threatcasting foresight model. It is painstakingly researched and follows real-time global events. I make a compelling commentary on the expansion of technology when innovation precedes guardrails and understanding - certainly within large industries. Finding the breadcrumbs in the text, by the book’s end, observant readers appropriately wonder ‘Am I holding a book of fiction or non-fiction?’

Storycasting is a creative process that combines storytelling with visual elements to engage audiences in a unique way. It involves crafting narratives that are enhanced by multimedia components, such as images, videos, and audio, creating a dynamic experience for viewers. This approach allows storytellers to bring ideas to life in a more immersive manner, making the content more relatable and impactful. Whether for marketing, education, or entertainment, Story offers a fresh perspective on how stories are told and experienced.
